<이 담> Dom Lee was born in Seoul, Korea. He received his BFA in Painting from the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University in Korea. In 1990,he moved to the United States and graduated from the MFA Illustration as Visual Essay at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. As a fine artist, he held numerous exhibitions in both Korea and the United States. Dom also works as a free-lance illustrator. His artworks can be found in children's books, book jackets, magazines, and various other products.

서울대학교 서양화과를 졸업하고, 뉴욕 스쿨 오브 비주얼 아트(School of Visual Arts) 대학원에서 일러스트레이션을 전공했습니다. 순수회화 작가로서 평범한 주변의 일상을 그림으로 기록하는 비주얼 에세이(Visual Essay) 작업으로 다수의 개인전과 그룹전을 열었으며,동료 화가이자 아내인 김근희 선생님과 함께 일러스트레이터로 미국과 한국에서 활발한 작품 활동을 하고 있습니다.
미국에서 출간된 책들 《야구가 우리를 살렸다 Baseball Saved Us》, 《영웅들 Heroes》, 《자유를 향한 여정 Passage to Freedom》, 《엄마의 고향을 찾아서 Journey Home》등은 미국출판계 다수의 상을 수상했습니다. 최근 출간된 책으로는《아빠의 봄날》《끝나지 않은 겨울》《아빠와 함께 세상 구경》《모르는 게 더 많아》《당산 할매와 나》등이 있고,《명량 해전의 파도 소리》는 2010년 문화체육관광부 우수 교양 도서로 선정되었으며, 《겨레전통도감-살림살이》가 51회 한국출판문화상을 받았습니다.
